| MOVIE/POTLUCK night
hi everyone! the decision has been made that since we weren't able to
get a room on campus that we're going to hold the potluck and movie at
me and my brother's apartment. if you need a ride (since it's off
campus) then car-pooling will be available at the student life building
(just wait outside the main entrance) at around 6:15~6:30. if you are
able to provide your own transportation please do so because i'm not
sure how many cars we can get for the car-pooling. if you are providing
your own transportation here is a map:

Happy Tanabata!!! July 7th is the Star Festival in Japan where a
shepherd (the Altair star) and the princess (the Vega star) can cross
the milky way to meet once a year. Legend has it that the king
allowed the couple to marry but since they didn't perform their duties
as a weaver and a herder, the king separated them in the sky.
It is celebrated by decorating bamboo trees with origami and one can
write their wishes on origami paper and hang it, similar to a christmas
tree.
Tanabata Song:
Sasa no ha sara-sara, nokiba ni yureru
Ohoshi-sama kira kira, kingin sunago.
Goshiki no tanzaku, watashi ga kaita,
Ohoshi-sama kira kira, sora kara meiteru.
Translation:
Bamboo tree dancing in the wind,
The stars are shining, silver & gold sprinkled on the paper.
I wrote on colorful papers,
The stars are shining, looking down from the sky.
